Christmas is right around the corner, and at the Westmoreland Mall, a beloved Santa made a special trip to take gift requests early. The Santa is from New Jersey but has been sent to the mall for the last few years. This year, the company that brings Santa to the mall decided not to send him all this way, and instead keep him closer to home. The Santa saw that people were upset about it, so he drove to the mall on his own for three days to take photos. The store Christmas Town hosted him and collected donations. Photos with Santa were also free. “I fell in love with these people through the last couple of years. They’ve taken me in as if I’m one of their own. I don’t know, they’re just special people. The people in this store are special people. I’ve watched them grow, I’ve had people all day that I’ve been watching them since they were babies and now they’re three and four years old. You’re like part of the family,” the Santa said. The Santa said he plans to come out to the Westmoreland Mall for as many years as he can. Wednesday was this Santa’s final day at the Christmas Town store for the season. Another Santa will be at the mall starting Friday, Nov. 19. Click here for more information.
