The owner of Orlando’s Fashion Square has submitted plans to revitalize the mall.The owners submitted a proposal this week to totally redevelop the property by adding in things like new shops and an outdoor plaza.”I just love that. That’s when I’d go in again,” said Cheryl Esland.For years, the mall has struggled to attract customers and keep businesses.”I know the people there, the guy in the yogurt shop, the ice ream shop, Macy’s and everybody there is so nice. I think they just need a little help,” said Walter Soto.The new plan would keep the anchor stores like Macy’s but totally revamp the surrounding area.In addition to the storefronts, this new redevelopment plan is also going to include a brand new hotel, as well as over one thousand new apartments.People we spoke with approved of the plan saying they believe it could not only help bring more business to the mall but revitalize the whole neighborhood.“I think it would definitely create a better opportunity for jobs as well as bring a better positive look at the community,” said Sarah Cowan Bennett.The new plan is just in its beginning stages.The city still has to give its final approval which could take months.
