Officers wait for boy in mall lot to return to stolen car; he does so wearing stolen pants worth $350: Beachwood police blotter

BEACHWOOD, Ohio — Receiving stolen property: Cedar Road

At 3:50 p.m. Oct. 11, officers checked the lot of Beachwood Place mall, 26300 Cedar Road, and identified a parked car as stolen. Officers waited for the driver to come out of the mall and return to the car. The male suspect returned with four other males. Seeing police, the suspect left his acquaintances and ran.

Police apprehended the suspect, a Euclid boy, 16. It was then found that the boy was wearing a pair of pants he stole from the mall’s Saks Fifth Avenue store. The pants were valued at $350.

Police arrested and charged the boy with receiving stolen property, theft and obstructing official business.

Theft: Cedar Road

At 6 p.m. Oct. 11, police arrested an East Cleveland man, 21, for stealing a shirt valued at $45 from Dillard’s at Beachwood Place.

Theft: Cedar Road

At 2:05 p.m. Oct. 7, it was reported that a male was seen stealing three pairs of sunglasses from Saks Fifth Avenue. The total values of the glasses was $1,426. The theft occurred Oct. 5. Police do not have a suspect.

Grand theft: Chagrin Boulevard

At 2:15 p.m. Oct. 8, Porsche of Beachwood, 25855 Chagrin Blvd., reported the theft of a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee from its west parking lot.

OVI: Richmond Road

At 9:40 p.m. Oct. 8, an officer stopped a car that did not stop for a red light at Richmond and Cedar roads. It was subsequently learned that the driver, a Canton woman, 21, was intoxicated.

Police arrested the woman and charged her with OVI, the red light violation and for driving with expired plates.

Animal at large: North Woodland Road

At 12:50 p.m. Oct. 9, a Beachwood woman, 74, was injured when a dog left its yard and knocked her down as she walked along North Woodland Road. The dog’s owner was issued a warning about the dog running loose.

Grand theft: Central Parkway

At 1:35 a.m. Oct. 9, a 2021 Dodge Durango was reported stolen from Infiniti of Beachwood, 25900 Central Parkway.

Grand theft: Chagrin Boulevard

At 10:50 p.m. Oct. 9, police were called to the gas station at 25705 Chagrin Blvd., where a car had been stolen. The car, stolen by an unidentified male, had been left with its engine running in the station’s lot.

The victims were a woman, 27, and a man, 30, both of Bedford.

OVI: George Zeiger Drive

At 2:25 a.m. Oct. 10, an officer stopped a car for a marked lanes violation and found that the man driving, 32, of Lyndhurst, was intoxicated. Police arrested the man and charged him with OVI, not driving within marked lanes, and having a blood-alcohol content greater than .08, the state minimum for drunk driving.

Theft from auto: Maidstone Lane

At 8:05 p.m. Oct. 10, a woman, 49, reported that someone entered her car, parked overnight in her driveway, and stole from the vehicle $150 in cash.
